I'm not sure why companies need to build up expectations like this. The day they announce anything at all, the whole community will be talking about it anyway.

From what I can tell our imaginations kick into overdrive about some Amiga saving new wonder product so we can't help but be disappointed.

They should just release when it's ready and be done with it or tell us WTF it is a few weeks early so we can save our cash.

If they lead us on for a few weeks and then reveal some product that is 2 years off, they deserve all the flack they get.

It's a FPGA Arcade Minimig in an A500 style case called the "Minimig 500", the later version with Jacub's 68060 board will be called the "Minimig 1200".

...

.....

.......

or probably not.  ;)

I'd go for that!

Not me, I just assume it's going to be junk!  Better to be pleasantly surprised than disappointed.

I wish I had your self control ;)

It is a weird coincidence as I have been seriously considering buying myself a SAM460 this month but now I have to wait september 19th before deciding anything just in case this "secret" would be a new Amiga compatible system with specs/price I would prefer.

So in this case they have actually hurt sales with this tactic.

Does no one remember Osborne anymore?

Plus I can't really figure why I have started to be so interested in the SAM460.....a couple of weeks ago I was still convinced it was overpriced and useless for my use.

Since I saw that movie on youtube showing the 460 in action,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3JbzW3l-NE

it kinda raised my interest by a notch :)

I wonder why more Amiga advertisement isn't done this way?

I'm pretty jaded and as simple (and slow) as that video was, I have to say that I'm more interested after seeing it than I was before.

I'm not ready to drop a grand on one, but it is a bit more appealing.

I guess the red team is trying to get the naming conventions on their machines to line up as if it was one company.  Not a bad idea really since nobody can afford to make an entire product line.

It's just kind of sad that the low end "500" is $1200.
