Amiga 2000 and Networking
« on: January 29, 2013, 02:29:01 PM »
Hi All,

I am getting back into the Amiga since the late 80s/early 90s. I currently have an Amiga 2000 with a PAL motherboard on its way (current motherboard is shot - battery acid over the bottom 1/4 of the board). Anyway, while I am waiting on it, is there any way of networking the Amiga 2000? Currently I only have a serial port and I possible could hook it up null modem to it. However, I wanted to do real networking. It has a G-Force 030/40 with 4 Megs of Flash ram and 1 meg of chip ram. I saw someone on e-bay selling a ISA network card attached to a bridge card and the only other one I could find is one off e-bay cost $267 USD+shipping. Wow! That one was only coaxial, thou. I went on amigakit but all I could find were PCI network cards.

Any help would be appropriated.

Oh man, I just sold two A2065's really cheap :(

Remember, that $267 USD+shipping is asking price (buy it now) and know one has bought it yet.

I did e-bay search for the ones amiman99 told me about.

besides the $267 USD+shipping one, I saw the IOBlix come up but it appears not to have the ethernet daughtercard attached. Oh well.

Thanks for the help, I'll keep on checking e-bay and amibay. I would prefer to get it off of amibay.

Anyway, I was over at Individual Computers and saw something that might work. A500/A1000 Clockport. Just wondering why it is not for the A2000. Just starting out (again) so not sure why it wouldn't be compatible. Possible attachment to another chip (CIA) or something? I know I would have to get something to attach to the clockport but getting that port seems to really open the horizons on expansions.

Get a net card and easy net from amiga kit, I used out on my 1200 and 2000, it works really well

What card did you get from AmigaKit? I went there under networking and only shows PCI network cards and PCMCIA network cards. I don't see any for sale for zorro slots.

Wow! Thanks guys! :) Now, it looks like I am going to have to save up for it. I do have a 030/40Mhz board with 8 megs of fast ram. Not to shabby but after seeing specs on a 4000 with a 060 running 128 Megs I just lump down in my chair. Oh well. I'll see what I can do.
