I am not a fan of Mint. I prefer Ubuntu or Open SUSE.
Thinking of installing either Ubuntu or Mint but don't know which is best for me coming from Windows Vista (individual application volume control, codec for every movie format under the sun like m2ts and m4v etc and excellent graphics programs like Paintshop Pro v8.1 and Zoom Player media player superior to VLC)
I may end up just running VICE and UAE and surfing the web with Chrome on Linux but would like to be able to use it more if it is more efficient and responsive kernal wise (and also Linux doesn't get shafted by trojans/viruses at the mere sniff of a TCP/IP connection unlike every version of windows this century

)
