Amiga is probably the most reliable machine I ever owned.

C64....back to shop 3x for this and that (mostly PSU)
Atari ST....loose rom chips nightmare!
Amiga.....blissful ignorance of the existence of engineers :)

Of course I never bought an A500 or A600 el cheapo machines so this may explain it. But then my A1200 is also going strong too (but it's 8 years younger than my A1000 so.....)

All I can say is buying misdescribed 'untested' crap off ebay decades after manufacture and then having problems with it <> Amiga is pure shit.

I've never had Agnus/Denise/Paula fail on any of my OCS/ECS machines bought new and ditto for Lisa/Alice/Denise on my A1200 or A4000 I bought in the 90s. I have had many many graphics cards burn out just because a PC was left switched on for 2 days (just showing the desktop, not actually doing anything) though.

So really I never ever had  a problem with any of the machines I bought new, I have had dodgy machines bought off ebay second hand but that's not the machine's fault it is the fault of sellers being twats.

Always suspicious of people selling used computers or cars, they usually sell due to a fault that only they know about to get out of repair costs.

In recent years, I've used my classic machines more, rather than less, thanks to their being upgraded with basic facilities like network access.

I get what he means, when you start buying £1000 PPC cards for £400 A4000/030s etc etc you still will be limited with something as simple as browsing certain modern websites with problems. So more is less as he kind of says.

I do still have plenty of fun with Dpaint AGA and ALL my website pixel art is possible on a stock A1200 to be honest. So depends on your point of view really.

Whether you play Amiga game soundtracks via one of those MP3 compilations or on an actual Amiga using the original MOD file is going to make no difference to enjoying the awesome Amiga catalogue of music available too :)
