AFAIK these things only accept single sided SIMM's (4MB, 16MB, 64MB) and use two of these to mimic a double sided SIMM (8MB, 32MB, 128MB).

Although, I have seen huge (as in twice the height and number of chips) 64MB SIMMs (using the same RAM chips as 32MB SIMMs, just twice as many). So it could maybe work, at least with some boards.

There's only one way to find out: Buy one (two for a CS-PPC) of these and try.

This is pure speculation, but my blizzard ppc 603e will take up to 256 mb of ram, and so would my blizzard IV , with scsi kit, so I dont think it would be a limit of the card, can you not get 256mb edo ram sticks then?

1: AFAIK there's no such thing as a 256MB SIMM, and if there is, they are probably even rarer than the 128MB ones...

2: The CyberstormPPC has four SIMM sockets, but for some reason, phase5 decided not to bother supporting larger SIMMs than 32MB. 4x32=128.

The original specs for the BlizzardPPC was max 64MB (2x32), but I guess they figured out that this wouldn't be enough, and redesigned the RAM circuitry. The next step in SIMM size limit is 128MB, resulting in a max of 256MB.

Had they done this with the CyberstormPPC as well, the limit would have been 512MB! :insane:

That's how I used it, in my Apollo 1230 with 2x32MB sticks (Double sided) and it's fine.

I can take pics if needed.

Which means this thing emulates a 'huge' 64 MB SIMM (the ones with twice the number of chips as 32MB SIMMs).
So, In theory, this could work on a CS-PPC as well. Trouble is, you need two of these (Identical) and four Identical 32 MB SIMMs in order to try.
