Modern storage solutions for A2000
« on: May 24, 2011, 07:21:12 PM »
So, I've started some initial browsing for some modern hard drive solutions for an A2000.  I have an A2091 board with 2M ram in my 2000 already, but the drive is painfully slow to boot.  It is also barely 40MB in size.  I have browsed the BBOAH for IDE cards, better SCSI cards, but I would like a simple and not too radically expensive solution.

Anyone have a good solution?  Should I just look for a better SCSI board than the 2091 (mine has rev 6.6 ROMS and a rev4 WD), or an IDE board (where I can then use CF/IDE adapters)?

Get a buddha, then you can use a CF card on that, or a cheapo ide drive. I have been using my buddha for a few years with no issues.

Buddha is EOL and neither Vesalia or AmigaKit carry them.  It does seem like a great solution though!

How about a Deneb and boot off a flashdrive? My friend did that. Do you have an accelerator?

When I get my Deneb its going into the 4000.

I just got an itch to get my 2000 up and running as a "backup"

That and I can get and Indivision ECS for it.  It's a bog standard 2000 rev 4.3 with 2M on the 2091.  Accelerators aren't very common at the moment and tend to be pricey.  That's the problem when there are 2 miggys fighting for your foo money! :D

Hi,

You can store your A2000 in the bottom of a closet, or if you have a shelf in the closet you can store it on the shelf, sometime an empty dresser drawer will work (has to be big though). I know one guy who tried to store his in the freezer, this is a cold solution for the A2000.
One thing to always remember when storing your A2000, wrap it up in a plastic bag to keep the dust out.
