IContain announces Amiga branded TVs, cell phones and computers
When a certain Todd Kleperis contacted the Aminet team two days ago to  "discuss your library of Amiga titles" and ask for "guidance as to how  to work with the existing fan base
", the initial reaction over over at  Aminet was confusion.

So, this makes them +1 up on CUSA, now doesn't it?:D

I find that rather odd statement since they haven't released very much tech information on their Amiga series.

Easily gleaned by going here:

You've got two things here.  The Amiga name and the logo.  The Amiga name is currently not trademarked for toilets, squirrels or most non-computer items.  However you can't use the logo, that remains in the hands of (what appears to be) a few dozen select companies....

Slap a boing ball sticker on whatever you want, start a company called CommodoreExBritishColonies, sell red and white adult toys attached to generic Chinese PC clones and call them virtual-reality simulators.

You know...for the ladies.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Following negotiations with Nicholas, I am pleased to announce I have secured exclusive rights to the 'Commodore', and 'Amiga' names in the UK and Ireland.  I have a £200,000,000 advertising budget and wish to work wit da community.

Don't worry.

You won't feel a thing.

your plans will interfere with my line of official Amiga "virtual Fabio" devices.  I'm going to hire some dull-eyed mouthbreathers to talk up my product and insult the community and wedge them against you!

No, the next AIO project is Amiga 500x and it will not have Atom inside. But it will be Intel. It will be also based on a laptop mobo.

awesom.

Have to agree with this 100%. I have been watching the Amiga community for the past 10 years from a distance and really was quite impressed by the relative advancements that were made. With this kind of thing going on, we actually should be really glad that the various NG products don't carry the Amiga nameplate. Slapping a Boingball on a Chinese TV, how much worse can it get?

Slapping a Boingball on a Vietnamese TV?
I got one!  How about slapping a boing ball on a generic laptop Intel/Nvidia board?

No, no, no! You can't go inferring that they're going to use generic Intel hardware just because their existing products use generic Intel hardware and they've indicated that they're going to continue using generic Intel hardware for the near future! What, do you think you've got pattern recognition or something? You have to wait for the specs to be released!

Dangit John!  When You're right, you're right!  And...well...you're right! :D

Valium, Prozac, Aderall, Lithium….the list goes on and on…..and for  those of you who seem to be so consumed and concerned about the recent  announcements regarding iContain and their Amiga branded products, I  suggest you contact a medical professional, and get on board with a  prescription of your choice.

Our license agreement with Amiga Inc. is an exclusive worldwide  trademark license for All-in One keyboard computers, and a non exclusive  license for other form factors, accessories, software and peripherals,  all of which will be produced and distributed by Commodore USA, LLC.

I welcome the recent announcement by iContain of their trademark license  agreement with Amiga Inc. and encourage everyone who has an interest in  seeing the Amiga brand return to the forefront of consumer electronics  and personal computing, to join us.

Although I am not personally familiar with the principals of iContain, I  did speak with Bill McEwen earlier this week, and feel confidant that  this new licensee will bring much to the table, and can prove very  beneficial to the overall success of the Amiga brand, and it’s vibrant  rebirth. The RTO (Rent to Own) market is the target of this venture, and  by developing mainstream consumer electronics under the Amiga banner  can only further all our efforts as well. There can be joint marketing,   production, manufacturing economies of scale and other positive results  that are now possible. It is a bit too early in the game to forecast  where this will go, but I do look forward to opening a dialog with  iContain, and explore all the possibilities that may exist….now, and in  the future.

Congratulations, iContain…and welcome to the exciting world of Amiga!

It is in my wallet (as I don't open it very much), in fact I'm pretty sure I've still got some gold doubloons in there that Long John Silver gave me when I was just a cabin boy... :)

Ahh...so you were a fancy lad...
