WHDLoad installer errors out, #800000003)
« on: June 02, 2010, 01:44:56 AM »
I'm trying to install WHDLoad onto my Hard Drive, but it gives me this error every time.  I d/l the whdload user package from the whdload website.  I am wondering if it is just my setup:  A2000 ECS agnus, 1meg chip, 2 meg ram.  Am I just lacking the "oomph"?

Also yes, you may need more ram, at least another Mb of CHIP RAM, though some games "might" let you get by with what you have.

Right on.  I went to HDToolbox and found no widget that would let me mess with MaxTransfer rate.  It is a SCSI hard drive, tho...Not too sure if that changes anything or not.

I got around it by telling the WHDLoad install to use a different Installer executable.

Which installer executeable?  I actually snooped around on the hard drive and found that whdload had been loaded at some time (unregistered, so it gives a nag warning.).  On any .adf image I try it on (whdload FOO.adf) it says not enough memory.  Even Ultima 4!  I'm thinking I need to keep on keeping on with the adfblitzer until such time I can boost to 2meg chip and some more ram in general.

You don't run adfs with whdload. You need a whdload installer for the game to install it on your hd. Installer packages can be downloaded from the whdload website. Most installers require that you use real floppy drives as source so you need to write the game adfs back to floppies. Depends on the installer if it accepts "modified" versions of the game.

I will try it the proper way today, and while I'm at the website I'll RTFM

Thanks!
