Hobbies! What do you do that isn't Amiga?
« on: June 11, 2011, 10:37:56 PM »
Hi girls and guys!

Thought I would be interesting to see what we do other than Amiga.

I know Franko likes Squirrels. I myself am an ex-mechanic who loved cars, and ex-IT-Techie that loved computers - oops still do! - I like beer and smoking and used to love weed and coke, I've a couple stationary engines (Lister D / Petter A1), I do DIY everything from a plug to walls and plumbing and I like doing my wife......

.....your turn! :hat:

I forgot music! D'oh! Yeah I love listening to music - mainly rock / metal but listen to almost everything. I also make some kinda 'music' as The Synapse Project.......
I'm a Jointer by trade - as in mains electrical cable, Live 3 Phase LV Mains, and joint 11KV High Voltage. Most towns are like one big circuit board.
I used to class myself as a writer once apon a time. Poetry, stories, lyrics etc......don't really find the time now so I end up editing for my wife who writes.
Inbetween being a parent, a Union rep and councillor.....yeah life is busy!

I like to snort the sherbert filling in those ufo sweets. Then spend the next 3 hours on a sugar high playing countless crap games.

Good plan! I like that! I know what I'm doing next weekend!

I tinker with my SIII LandRover a bit but mostly....

I have a medium sized collection of Acorn computers the from BBC B and Master 128 through to the Archimedes A410/1 and a BBC Acorn A3000 all networked via an Econet... The A410/1 also has Ethernet so I effectively have an Econet to Ethernet bridge too.

My Amiga A1200 has Ethernet as well so it's a fully homogenised network with Acorn, Amiga, PC compatibles, Nintendo Wii and a heap load of modern kit like Blu-ray players and Internet TV's all connected on a 1Gbps backbone with a few TB of NAS storage for everything to be archived to.

When I decorated the house a couple of years ago, I re-wired completely and installed CAT-6 Ethernet in the walls so all the networking throughout the house is wired but "invisible" up to the wall sockets.

That little lot tends to keep me busy :)

Paul

I like your style! And did the same while rebuilding my house, at the moment the ground floor is Ethernet, and when I get to upstairs that will be as well, I have a Gigabyte switch in my understands cupboard to run it all.......which will be moved in my loft conversion in a switch cabinet that picked off a site a year ago ;)
