Programs need to be compiled for Altivec whatever the OS. It's different code to non-Altivec. The only exception is where Altivec is used in shared libraries, but that's rare.

I believe it is rarely used in OS4 but Altivec could be used to accelerate graphics and sound functionality in the system, for example.

I have asked for full refund. And I might inform UK and EU chamber on how they sell defective products with no support (defective on software side). Trevor has done nothing to help me in months.

I am not mad, I am looking for solution before going to court.

And I do love and support AOS4 but betta go SAM460 with MOS or Peg2. X1000 is kind of abandoned by Cyrus now, which is very unfair (see Stevens respons to my small demands)

Going to the court costs money and you never know outcome. Just sell your x1000 and buy PowerMac. They don't need you, you don't need them.

Ahh yes, you got me there. Except I never claimed that an A1200/060 was the way forward.
The amiga I use mostly is a SAM440.

But SAM440 is discontinued too. Why don't you upgrade to x2000 or SAM460? ;-)

Do you mean that this to be true "Steven Solie did falsely claimed OS4 will get MUI 4, like MorphOS already has" OS4 would require Ambient port first?

I don't think it (MUI4 in OS 4) is complete. It doesn't have to, though.

Hardest part is "falsely claimed", very strongly hints that Steve Solie is liar. But that is just typigal Amiga.org Hyperion bashing, wich is always allowed.

You can always go elsewhere. You didn't pay for this service.

I remember when X1000 was announced, here was a thread where some people stated that Trevor is just going to steal preorder moneys. Do you happen to remember who they were?

I remember it was you.

Just got to say that you timed that one really badly.

Not really because MUI4 in OS4 can't be the same what MorphOS currently has. It is always left little behind because Hyperion must wait new MorphOS SDK is released in order to implement changes to their development tree. It is not important though.

IMHO, that picture is somewhat misguiding, in more than one way.

AROS should be drawn to same level with OS4 and MorphOS. AROS is not discontinued and AROS is not only sharing source code to/from MorphOS but also to/from OS 4.

Do you know if Stefan Stuntz was actually paid for this, or gave his blessing to it anyway? I knew they had permission to ship MUI 3 with OS4, but doing something like this is different. I'm asking because other OS4 developers are left unpaid and Hyperion has historically shown to have a special view on their rights regarding other peoples IP.

I don't speak for Stefan and don't know his dealings (I never ask him because it is none of my business). AFAIK he is not involved but he gets paid by Hyperion due to license agreement.

I don't know. The deal is between Hyperion and Stefan Stuntzi. Personally I don't find it wrong call it MUI 4 even if it is not "our" MUI 4.

In the end it makes sense. Odyssey is using number of new MUI classes and to port Odyssey to other platforms it is easier if they are available rather than add workarounds to Odyssey core. It can also mean that finally those N* classes could be dropped and multiplatform programs like Yam could finally use new APIs.
