Refurbished my Amiga 2500
« on: April 07, 2010, 07:54:39 AM »
Hello everyone,

Brian here again, My Amiga 2500 that I purchased for $200 shipped off ebay came in, no physical damage but man was it dirty and needed some TLC.

So I took the Amiga 2500 apart and started the refurbishing process, and found this little surprise as I was cleaning it up.

Yep a Mega Agnus ! yay !! Bonus !!

also found a fully loaded RAM card !!!  yay another bonus !

The Battery had leaked a little so took it out right away and cleaned the area up with alcohol then brushed the area down with baking soda to neutralize the battery acid.

The previous owner had took a permanent marker and wrote a 0 and 1 on the case for the drive number, so I cleaned the face up and took a product called OOPS! to the writing and remove all of it. OOPS! is great stuff !!

The case was dirty and had some scratches, so I washed the case in some good old Joy, dried it off, then painted it with some good quality paint.

The whole inside was dirty, nothing a can of compressed air and some Q-Tips with alcohol  could not take care of though, now its spotless inside.

The keyboard was real nasty but didn't have any physical damage, so took it apart and cleaned it. Joy to the outside case, lots of Q-tips and compressed air to the keys, Now look at it looks almost new.

All finished, it looks and works great, Hooked the monochrome out to a TV and played a good long game of Pirates! on it after I installed it to the hard drive.  Love that Game !!

Now all i'm waiting for it the new ScanDoubler and flicker Fixer to come in for it from Amigakit.com

also I made a C64 website that I had to do for a college class, everyone loved it and I got an A+ on it, you can check it out here
http://www.kj4oos.com/c64site/index.shtml

I'm not done with it yet but what i've got so far i've been told ain't bad.

Thanks, no they were sold in US, the UK did get amiga 2000's that were floppy only, no HD's aimed for them to my understanding though, sorta the same way in the UK most C64 owners used cassette tape instead of the floppy drives heh

very nice work. Never seen one of those beasts in real life. Was it a UK only thing?
