HD with higher max transfer than 16.4Mb/s?

Hi:
This will be a short thread, but I want to know:
 
Why to put a HD with more than a transfer speed of 30Mb/s (that's the one of my CF HD)? Even the Fast Ata MKIII can't give higher transfer speeds than a theoretical maximum throughput of 16.4MB/sec
 
Does it make any sense to have higher transfer speeds on the HD?
 
I've found that if you want something faster than a CF and cheaper than it (for that speed) there's this:

You woudn't have to buy the Cf-Ide adapter even.

It's just fine and you're right about it.
Only disadvantage over CF is the size that's the same as an 2.5" IDE HD!

Ok, thanks. So, there's nothing better than the Ide-Cf adapter and using a CF like mine with 30mb/s (or less), as the max you can get using Scsi/Idefix/Fast Ata never will be higher than those 16.4mb/s, is it right?

only 50GBP? thats not cheap at all. you can get CF adapter and, say, 4Gb CF card for far less.
yes, 4Gb is a lot for some of us.
granted that ssd, might be more 'robust' as its designed to work as hdd.
 
another problem is that they are not easy to find. well at least not for me, and additional costs like postage and customs are not small. such a shame, I'd use one in laptop.

I agree they aren't cheap, but search a Cf with that transfer speed and compare prizes... It's 16Gb, not 4 ones. But it doesn't matter, I won't buy it. They are bigger and Why do I want it faster if the system doesn't use such speed? I just wanted to know, and it's a lot bigger than a CF...

As for speed...
I have never seen in my Amigas a speed test over 9.3MB/s and that's with BPPC's SCSI --> IDE via an ACard Bridge. HD is an 16GB CF.
Ofc with an UWSCSI HD on a Cyberstorm you could get a better performance... but NOTHING more than you can get with these SSDs.
 
For A1200's native IDE... I wouldn't expect something more than 2-3MB/s (without FastATA or Idefix Express) but even with the fastest IDE = (theoretically) FastATA.... I would be very surprised if you would succeed in achieving the MAX transfer rate at a PIO5 mode by using this SSD!

All this speed info you give in your post is very interesting. I will keep it.
An Acard Bridge... that's really expensive. If you can't get more with that...
