A1200 Component broken
« on: December 11, 2010, 07:52:08 PM »
Hi:
I had an accident and a piece got broken in my A1200. It puts F3.00F. Which is it (capacitor, diode, transistor, whatever) and where can I find it?

Thanks.

Looks like it's Y621 - that's a 3 MHz quartz, should be around .50 €.
Keyboard dead?

Where are you looking? I tell the small yellow one. I was trying to install a Fast Ata and as it says you have to press and get the boards together... I think I'm very strong... :). The thing is that when I started the Amiga I didn't get the HD led light, and it doesn't boot, and then I saw that.

It can't cost 50€, can it?

Thanks, yes I was reading it again now. What made me think that was the "OMG!! i hope you can fix it.... "
Yes, it seems it's a ceramic resonator? (from other forum). But I don't find it nowhere. Fitzteve had the same problem and he coudn't find one but from a mb donnor.

I'm searching now a faulty/broken Mb, but if I could find it somewhere would be better.

Digikey has them, but the shipping is going to be expensive.

You can also find them on eBay, but it's not any cheaper.

Thanks a lot, it wasn't easy to search them, but I was faster:)
So the one I've shown is right?

Thanks a lot. I've never could find it without your help :rtfm:

Wait... I will ask something else... About the fast ata, I put the ribbon cable upside down and later I saw that. What happens if you put the Hd ribbon cable upside down? Can I've made any other problem?

$10 is pretty much a rip off. I could order one of these:

http://www.reichelt.de/?ACTION=3;GROUP=B41;GROUPID=3173;ARTICLE=2388 (0.43 €)
the next time I order from Reichelt - but since our last order went on Friday it'd be after the holidays.

I'm a little lost. The cheap one you say can't be ordered alone, minimum order 10€. The one I say cost the same, and I only need one, so the one I found at Ebay is ok or not? Or it's better to buy something else in your page?

Wait, wait, wait... look that drawing; it's too tall... I need it low enough to have the fast ata board over it.
The one I told of Ebay has the spects I need or not? I don't mind if it isn't a crystal or something better than the original. If the one I tell is the same I will put it and will leave experiments for experts. I only want to desolder and solder the same...

What about this:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/AMIGA-1200-A1200-MOTHERBOARD-FAULTY-REV-1D-4-/290501166915?pt=UK_VintageComputing_RL&hash=item43a3380743

It's a bit more expensive than the component you referenced, and it's faulty anyway, but you could rob the 3.00Mhz resonator off it and still keep the rest of the mobo for spares.

The decision is yours!

It's a pity... because yesterday I received a sheilding alone that I bought at Ebay... I'm not going to put a shop of sheildings...

@Zac67 thanks a lot for the offer, but I will buy or a faulty mb or the ceramic parts of Ebay... I'm always hurry, much more when in a week and a half or so :) I will receive an ACA 1230/56 and I want to get it repaired first.

Did you try Digikey.com??

No, I didn't. Finally i've bought the one of Ebay. The worst part was the sending cost. If Tony at Ebay tells me he's found a faulty one I'll buy it for the future. I don't want to buy a working mb even at the same price, 'cause I know me and I would be mounting a 3rd Amiga...

Ok. I received and soldered the ceramic resonator a couple of days ago, but as I had the Amiga dismounted I desoldered the RF and soldered a cable for a Clockport expander (which still haven't tried, it's still in other thread).

Right now I've mounted all again to try it for the first time. I've attached the Fast Ata with the cable, the CF Hd, the internal Cd rom in the secundary channel and both with the red ribbon cable where the fast ata has number 1.

I've turned on the Amiga....and nothing. Black screen on the Tv and no light at all on the Amiga. Then I've disconnected the Cd rom... nothing again. I was starting to think I've destroyed my beloved Amiga, and to make the last try I've disconnected the fast ata and connected only the Cf HD, turn it on..... nothing again, black screen.... While I was making the knot in the rope to hang myself I've pressed one of the kickstart roms and it was loose... so I've turned it on again and ... It works!!!

Now I've got to see why the fast ata doesn't work. I don't like it's smell, but perhaps are imaginations...

EDIT: Wait a moment: I've connected again the fast ata and now it boots (it seems it was only a problem of pressure over the roms), but I only get the introduce floppy screen... I've deleted Idefix from the startup-sequence. How do I boot with a 16GB Cf Hd? How do I install the Fast ata drivers?... I will have to search.
