Scots is to English what Bavarian (or Yiddish, or Schwyzerdütsch) is to German, only the Scots are much more uptight about it being not English

As a Norwegian I often find Scots easier to comprehend than Queens English, there's many Scandinavian words in use and the pronounciation is in general closer to what we're used to. To read it can be tricky though, almost have to read it out loud to hear what's being written.
