Sounds strange that software is the problem, as the only software involved is the kickflash software. There's no special software involved for RAM and CPU.

I would actually miss the FPU, it really helps alot on lowend systems. Also, it's more or less a must for anyone who want to run alternative OS (netbsd, openbsd, linux). Yes there is FPU emulation, but that only slows things down even more. At least the socket could be there for anyone who needs it.
