I like AmiBay, and it's always nice to keep it in the community, but your luck will depend largely on what kind of money you want versus how much the folks there value it. I've had excellent luck getting modest prices, and I've seen hard-to-find items go for much more, but I've never tried to sell any such stuff myself (on account of not having any!) Still, I'd say it's worth a shot, especially with eBay apparently going out of its way to alienate independent sellers these days...

For those wondering about magnetic's banning, there's a thread discussing it here (AmiBay doesn't really do formal ban-announcement threads on a regular basis, but someone asked.) Of note is zetr0's statement that magnetic has the right to appeal, but never did. magnetic, on the other hand, has stated that he did but that it was "pointless." I didn't care enough at the time to look into it further, but since it seems to keep coming up, I'll drop zetr0 a line and see if he wants to share any further information.

You see, they mentality of Amibay "officials" is  that its their ball they make the rules and if you dont like it get your  own ball. (You know like the jerk kid when you were little that had the  ball - same thing)
That's how every web forum works. I mean, except for moobunny.  And if you want to try to conduct trade on moobunny, well,  Godspeed, sir.

Ive been told by other amigans that EAB and Amibay is all UK guys AND THEY ARENT FOND OF AMERICANS.
There's plenty of American members there, including Skydivingirl, who is  quite respected and a moderator. I'm American; I list my location right  there below my avatar. I have never once had anybody give me crap for  it, and I've dealt with plenty of UK members both conversationally and  in trade.

AND YES ITS A KNOWN FACT THEY READ PRIVATE MESSAGES AND TAKE LIBERTIES INVADING YOUR PRIVACY ONLINE.
If you're shocked that moderators on a forum would read your PMs on that  forum pursuant to a disciplinary action regarding that forum's rules, I  don't think you really get forums.

Anyway: I've heard from Zetr0, after asking if I could get the story to set the record straight here. Unsurprisingly, he can't discuss  the full details of someone else's account history with the general  public, but he does reiterate:
Quote
A. Magnetic claimed that he sold the item to a friend as a swap meet.

  B. This friend then placed the item on eBay using the same images from the AmiBay listing.

  C. He claims the friend he traded with knew nothing about AmiBay.

  D. This all had taken place within three days of Magnetic receiving the  item.
Quote from: (Emphasis mine)
1. Magnetic was caught scalping a  fellow member
 2. We approached him with with our evidence*
 3. We (as a team) felt a ban was required
4. He declined the opportunity to appeal

AmiBay, doesn't have any time limit imposed on appeals, if Magnetic  wanted to he can appeal or apply for a new account if he wishes.

He was also informed of this at the time of our decision.
So it's basically his word against magnetic's. Based on observed behavior, I know where my vote is going.
