I'm not sure why companies need to build up expectations like this. The day they announce anything at all, the whole community will be talking about it anyway.

From what I can tell our imaginations kick into overdrive about some Amiga saving new wonder product so we can't help but be disappointed.

They should just release when it's ready and be done with it or tell us WTF it is a few weeks early so we can save our cash.

If they lead us on for a few weeks and then reveal some product that is 2 years off, they deserve all the flack they get.
Unfortunately, the massive marketing industry has made these kinds of stupid shenanigans omnipresent, and apparently companies like A-Eon and now ACube have convinced themselves that if they want to play with the big companies, they have to squander time and money on stupid promo stunts like the big companies too :/

Low price X1000 make a lot of sense but it'll also lower the interest of the X1000 too early I think.
Lowering the price would reduce interest? How does that work? This isn't 100-year-old port wine we're talking here, anything that could bring the price down from "mid-range wall-sized flat-screen TV" to something even halfway closer to the world of "hobby computer purchase" could only help, interest-wise.

I meant an Affordable X500, like the A500 compared to the A1000.

Well, you'll kindly note that the Amiga only really took off when the 500 was released as it provided the same (actually, slightly improved) technology at a lower cost. If by "X500" you mean something along the lines of the X1000's tech at a more affordable price, who cares if it overshadows the original? Let it!

(Not saying that's likely, but theoretically speaking, I wouldn't shed any tears if an affordable PA6T system stole its thunder.)

I seriously doubt there's some kind of barely-suppressed cultural longing for a pricy PPC board that underperforms used Macs and runs an OS based on one that most people who used the Amiga probably never even bothered with, but not any of the games.
