256x16 isn`t a 256Kb chip, it`s 512Kb.
(256*1024*16 means the chip is 4Mbit, and since 1 byte= 8 bits, 4Mbit/8 =512Kbyte)
So if you have 8 of these installed, you have the full 4Mbytes.
