Nope, no reason.. it`s exactly what RedSkull did ..have a look on aminet for kf500.lha
 I did the same thing myself using 2x16 bit flashs on my A1200.

In fact, why not just get a 16bit flash and save yourself a load of soldering?

Ooh, and just to be completely retentive,
 The CD32 is a 32bit machine(duh!) but uses a single 512x16 rom (1MB)

One thing to watch out for is the diff revisions of the A4000 mobo, some have the 2 rom sockets 'side by side' under the CPU board, others(AFAIK the CR version) have them 'end to end' at the edge of the mobo by the CPU card.

The A1200 version is easy enough, just do the old 'upside down PLCC socket over gayle' to get the extra signals you need.
