I got this atari book recently too and i had a look through it. it looks ace and is a properly researched piece.
Its a whopping book too.

the Atari book looks good but doesn't seem to cover the Jack Tramiel period?

The tramiel period will be covered in their next book, which they are already working on. Im excited about the tramiel period too after reading commodore a company on the edge.
