Several things, there are Datatypes out there for Word 95, and other documents. I believe they came out around 1996-97.

But alas no Excel.. You could probably save the excel doc out as word 95 then use this to view it

Excel wasn't big in the classic Amiga days, Lotus 1-2-3 was still king of the hill. Most Amiga spreadsheets have lotus format import formats (very few of them supports macros and code from other spreadsheets). Excel and write to 1-2-3 files (or at least it used to be able to).

Microsoft is moving to support OpenXML standard formats for Office 2007 and beyond (meaning .XLS files are a thing of the past). They just released an OpenXML toolkit and will also be supporting OpenOffice's XML formats for data.

If you are interested in an article of converting Excel to XML, you might find this article:

You might have better luck taking the file to a PC running open office or ms office somewhere and converting html there..Or get some sort of PC emulation with open office or MSOffice on the Amiga.
