Ok what's fast file system?

Is it the file system that kickstart 2.x uses or something?

I think that I have read in the WB 1.3 manual that the Fast File System is supported in Workbench 1.3, but ONLY for hard drives. However the best is probably to upgrade to 2.x anyway.

Hmm, you can use the 1.3 FFS for floppies too - you need to create a mountlist for them and use the diskchange command when you swap floppies.

The 2.0 FFS is in ROM, so it's available as soon as you power up the machine.

3.1 is the way to go anyway.

Well technically you don't need 2.04 for either of those tasks - 1.3 can handle both..

The FFS goes in the RDB of the hard drive, so you can have an FFS drive with 1.3 and also you can get crossdos or messydisk for 1.3

But it's a good idea to upgrade - 2.0 forwards is a big leap from 1.3 in usability.

Hope you can find those 2.1 disks so you can get crossdos out of the box..

If you have a booting Workbench 2.x Disk, you have FastFileSystem.

You can choose it during setting up the drive with HDInstTools.

Have fun,

FFS is also included on the A2091/590 install disk.
