Be careful trying to copy files from the CD to a memory card using a non-Amiga computer. A PC uses the Jolliet extension to allow long filenames but AmigaOS uses the RockRidge extension in the CD-ROM filesystem.
The best result you could probably get right now is to get an IDE splitter from AmigaKit.com and an IDE CD-ROM drive.
Also, keep in mind that some of the utilities in AmigaOS 3.5 or 3.9 require additional memory besides the 2 MiBytes of chip RAM on the motherboard. Getting a RAM expansion or accelerator card makes sense if you don't already have this. Some accelerator cards even have SCSI adapters available for them.
