I've used redhat 7.2/7.3/8.0 gentoo, suse and mandrake and for me mandrake comes out on top everytime.
It has loads of preconfigured window managers like blackbox and friends...
If anyone is new to linux then I'd definitely recommend mandrake, as most of the config can be performed through guis.
