The Amiga has limited audio resources. Either you can work within those limits, or you'll need to add a MIDI interface and drive external synthesizers.
DMCS is happy to work with either or both, but the internal voices are limited to four notes at a time.
It's really a question of: Do you want to see how much you can accomplish with just four voices?

I think from OctaMED V5 there was an 8 track mode, but I think he'll need a 68020 for that.
There are some quite amazing mods. Maybe load them up RedNova and try and figure out how they're constructed, and how they are able to make great music with just 4 tracks.
