The kipper memory expansion just clips onto the 68000 CPU in your A600, facing the same way as in the picture you provided. Push the kipper expansion down onto the 68000 chip until the socket is flush with the motherboard.

Hi Paul,

I popped in the fastmem card like you suggested.

I ran 'avail' command, see   http://www.flickr.com/photos/84872095@N08/12762753135/

Chip Maximum says 1,047,552 , which means 1 meg right? So something is missing.

The chip ram is only expandable to 2 MB via a 1 MB chipram expansion in the trapdoor slot of the A600 (such as the A604 by Individual Computers). The kipper unit is a fast ram expansion - and what's worrying here is that your machine hasn't recognised the fast ram at all. Are you sure it's clipped on fully? Also, what's always recommended is to clean the 68000 CPU IC contacts (all of the legs basically). If I was you I'd use isopropyl alcohol and cotton wool buds (Q tips to north Americans).
