Hi guys.
I'm still pretty new to the whole Amiga scene and have bought myself "a little monster". Amiga 600 with 2MB Ram, 20 GB HD, 3.1 ROM and a ACA630/30 Stealth Accelerator Card.
Now, as far as I understand the website of the ACA630 Card (http://www.jschoenfeld.com/products/ACA630_e.htm), then it should be possible for me to copy a A500 Kickstart on to the card somehow?
I would really like to do this, as there is some essential games from WHD Load I cannot play because my memory and kickstart is too high.
Can anybody help me with "a translation to newbies", on how I actually use this pretty darn cool accelerator card? :-)
All best
Anders, Copenhagen.
What games can't you play due to wrong Kickstart? The whole idea behind WHDLoad is that it's hardware independent (works on any Amiga/Kickstart), and also the more memory you have available in your Amiga the merrier - it will use any extra memory as required.
WHDLoad does require a 1.3 Kickstart image file ("kick34005.A500" & "kick34005.A500.RTB") in DEVS:Kickstarts for the majority of games at least. It's all explained in the WHDLoad docs though:
http://www.whdload.de/docs/en/need.htmlYou can also softkick that same 1.3 image too by using acatune at the CLI/shell. Try typing this in:
acatune -maprom devs:kickstarts/kick34005.a500That line would be useful if you wanted to play old floppy games that don't work on version 2/3 Kickstarts. But remember that the point of WHDLoad is that this isn't required any longer.
