I don't think it's as "easy" as just writing drivers for these cards. If I understood it correctly, the 16 bit barrier is a limit of the AHI system itself, so an upgrade of that or a new system may be necessary to get 24 bit support.
Don't take my word for it, though - I'm not a coder or anything, merely a user with an interest in getting 24bit support. Someone please explain how this works if I'm dead wrong. :-D
