#amiga.org has moved (again)
« on: October 27, 2007, 01:01:07 PM »
As our IRC regulars may have noticed, the network has been missing in action for a couple of days, even the website appears to be gone.
As a consequence, we have moved the channels to synIRC.

Connect to:
eu.synirc.net if you're in Europe
or
us.synirc.net if you're in the Americas
or
irc.synirc.net if you're somewhere else or don't know where you are :-D
or
use the CGI web thing, substituting SynGuestXXX for your desired nick name.

We're sorry for the inconvenience.

--Update--
Apparently ZiRC is back.

Oh well, they can't expect users to stick with them when they apparently don't care enough about us to at least leave a message on a website or something.

I assume we'll be going back if/when the server comes back online?

Nah, seems a bit pointless now that we've done all the work to move.
Also, sounds like el presidente finally approves:

should i post it as a permanent or temporary thing?
permament, no use going back there

Just to clear up some possible misunderstandings:

The channels have moved to irc.synirc.net as mentioned previously in this thread, and not back to ZiRC. The ZiRC channels are no longer in use by us, but one seems to have been snatched up by this guy, who has never been affiliated with our channels. Maybe he thought it was funny, I don't know. But it's not the Amiga.org channel, anyway.

To add to the confusion, the powers that be (of this web site) apparently haven't deemed it necessary to update the IRC info page to reflect this change, we have asked them, and it hasn't happened, but that is out of our (the IRC staff) hands, and we're sorry about that. But the guides should still work, provided you replace instances of zirc.org with synirc.net.
Alternative servers can be found at synIRC and some miscellaneous info here.

For any other questions, click Web Interface in the left side menu under Join Us For Live Chats! or join the channel with your usual IRC client.

Thanks
