AROS Vision 1.5.9. with full CD-Support and Mplayer
« on: March 25, 2013, 12:29:09 PM »
I have just uploaded AROS Vision 1.5.9. One of the main topics is full CD-Support including automounting of CDs, playing Music-CDs (MUI CD Player), Video can be played with ffplay or mplayer (the only missing thing is CD32 emulation). Further additions are FAT95, TwinVNC, Mr. Beanbag, a couple of music player and backup-tools. Amistart-menues are extended.

Below are two pictures, the first showing MUI CD Player playing Music from CD and the second a screenshot of a movie running with Mplayer (68k, 1.0)

I have no chance to test it myself on real hardware, I only use it on emulation. Wawa (who makes tests with nightly builds on real hardware now and then) recommends 6 MB and a very fast CPU (68060). On 68030 it might be slow till now. Graphic card is certainly a good thing (I have developed it on RTG). To test if the hardware works at all it is best to test it with a nightly build to make sure Aros 68k works at all on the hardware.

And thanx :-)

I am very interested in this too (and Jason certainly too :-) )

But if it works it will propably be not very fast. As far as I know they are concentrating on implementing all 3.1. features but it is still not optimized for classic hardware (AGA, ECS,...) but that is what they want to reach. From features it seems to me very complete now. Scalos and Magellan are included (next thing I will work on)
