How to bypass A3000T keylock? Which wires to connect?
« on: November 01, 2011, 07:42:10 PM »
Hello fellow Amigans,

About a week ago I got very lucky and was able to purchase a 3000T from a German Amiga fan... I just got it a few days ago and have been able to boot it into a workbench installation on the hard disk.

Now, the lock key has gone missing and unfortunately the lock is in the "LOCKED" position. This causes the machine to lock out the keyboard and mouse.

Now, I read that I can connect two wires together to bypass the lock (just unplugging the wires will not help). But the lock has 4 wires, going from "ORANGE GREY GREY ORANGE".

Anybody know which two to connect together to bypass the lock?

Ah OK... didn't know there is nothing unique about the lock key... so any 3000T key will work?

Just disconnecting the lock doesn't work - keyboard and mouse then remain locked... it's smarter than the 4000 solution ;-)

Hmmm I might actually have one like that somewhere in a box... time to start digging ;-)

Found two different sets, one Kensington (turned out to be too small) and a set with "HP" on it, which turn out to be exactly the right size but do not work! Argh... it seems the keying is off and I cannot get the lock to turn.
