I played through it last month, and Im pretty sure you can only load from the main menu.

I'd have to doublecheck. I thought you could hit space or something. I played it in WHDload the last time, so I dont know if that makes any difference.

As an aside, are you looking to carry your characters over into Curse?

Do you need any tactical advice?
How far into the game are you?
 
 
As an aside, if you want to play Curse of the azure bonds later, any character is probably fine, but non-humans will do better being multiclassed. Avoid half-elf clerics.
 
If you want to continue into Secret of the silver blades (the third game), stick with just humans. You'll regret it otherwise, due to level caps.

Thats exactly the party I brought forth into Secret of the silver blades.

The troll fight in the slums is wicked hard. After that, things get a bit easier.
