Hi all i have a VGA adapter attached to my amiga and want to be able to use a CRT monitor for playing games but it does not work, i can get workbench to display but as soon as i try play a game it comes up "signal out of range" ? does anyone have any ideas of which screenmode etc i should be using?

The vast vast majority of games won't work in VGA mode.

A few will (and you can find app's like modepro that can make a few extra work).

If you have the cash spare, get a Dell ST2320L. It works flawlessly in classic PAL modes.

I managed to get a couple of games running in VGA modes (some using modepro).

UFO, Subwar 2050, Doom, Testament 2, Gloom deluxe, Nemac IV, Warlords and a few others. There was a thread a while back.

It's NOT ideal though, as mentioned.

I'd second the ST2320L. Dell Canada had it on sale for $139 a couple of weeks ago when I ordered mine. Had to adjust the "Pixel clock" (or maybe it was "clock pixel") to get rid of vertical lines in PAL mode, but then it was fine.

ah, I'll have to mess with that. The vertical lines were less of an issue than the old scan doubler I had, but if there's a way to reduce them, I'd be all over that.
