I've used this
http://www.ambery.com/rgbcgatovgac.html
with a simple amiga monitor port to VGA adapter and while a bit pricey, it'll work great with a normal monitor or LCD

Do you think this is a better way to go than, say, an indivision or similar product?

I havent tried the indivision so I can't compare directly

The advantages I find are:

its available now, rather than later (there should be new batches of AGA indivision)

You dont have to open up your amiga and stick stuff in there

It'll work with any model, whereas some models of amiga, getting the indivision fitted seems to be a bit of a challenge.

Im not sure where the price compares. With the monitor adapter and a vga to vga cable, I ended up paying something like 150 total I think.
