Faulty Apollo 1240 25MHz Accelerator card
« on: January 24, 2017, 08:30:34 PM »
Good evening everyone.

I few years back my accelerator card went faulty due to leaking battery. I sent it away to a gent in France to repair the card which was carried out. Since then due to family and work my Amiga has lain dormant. I went to fire it up the other night and got a grey screen on boot up. Removal of the card brought the amiga back to life meaning the card is faulty although the motor on the 68040 chip is running. Is there any places that would be able to fix it?

I have attached the repaired area but there is what looks like a cracked surface mount resistor/capacitor next to the mach131 chip.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

That's good to know it could be sorted. I'll contact Acill and see what the possibilities are. Where is he based?

With regards to timing issues that's the first I have heard of it. Is it desolder and remove components? If so, that is something I would get someone to do.

The last time I did anything with an EPROM was in college a long time ago. I much prefer working with HV.

I'll contact these guys to see what can be done. If I can get a hold of a 68060 I may go down that route too.

I am reluctant to do any of the motherboard mods as I am not competent for that type of work so that would be getting sent away if that is required. The motherboard is an early rev need to check which one as it has commodore written on it.
