Component Y Pb Pr Compatibility
« on: September 22, 2010, 01:34:56 PM »
hello!

I'm wondering if the Amigas have component compatible outputs. As I have a HD Box here from hong kong somewhere, which works great with XBOX 360 etc. even Playstation 1 and 2 on VGA Monitors. Image quality is decent.

As the HD Box only has three inputs that are R, G and B, I'm just curious if they would work with the amiga RGB output?

Anyone tried yet?

Regards

Yes, I got this HD Box. Bought it off of ebay germany. From Asia.

Well the sync could be the problem, indeed, but before I solder stuff together, I just wanted to ask if maybe someone tried that before with component.

Even connecting Amiga to LCD HDTV via component, if that works, the HD Box would work, too, I assume.

I'm not yet familiar with YPbPr/Component specs.

Well for overall RGB (Component) requires a sync signal. That is seperate syncs, composite syncs, or like my HD Box Sync on Green I assume. Source: Wiki

I don't think Amiga RGB 23-pin provides Sync on Green. A simple question is: Would it work if I join Green + CSync together in one cable or is this a bad idea? :P
Well that is for people who only got such a box/converter with RGB only.

But, you're right, there's a VGA input on my HD Box.
If it's not for passthrough (I hope!) and can be used for 15kHz VGA (is that a standard??) it might work with an Amiga VGA adapter only.  ...making it a cheaper solution than buying twice price scandoublers.
