25k up front or it doesn't get made. Why?
He never said that..
It's 25K and it will be done (IMHO, I trust them) without too much trouble.
If they don't get it, my guess is that they are far enough along with enough great interviews already that something will be delivered.
But if they reach their goal, it will much more likely be a much more polished product.

Everything I buy on the internet is money up front with no "real" guarantee of delivery...
I have more faith in this than in most of my e-bait transactions..

I've watched several of the "Mac" documentaries, and think it would be great for us to have one of our own.

In this case the donators/ investors look as it they are getting something for the contributions...at any rate good luck to all those invloved
Hence the difference between donators and investors.
We are donating, and will (if it's fully funded) get a copy of the DVD when is is released.
We are not investing.  It's a bit similar to donating to PBS television I suppose.   When I do that, I don't expect to profit share.  ;-)  (Yes, I know PBS is a non-profit and it's not the same.  But I look at it that way.)

I do think the community is rife for scenarios of folks announcing a project then asking for cash on a project.
Yes, and this is why "kickstarter" is used.  It cuts down on some of that by making sure that the money is returned if they don't reach their funding goal.  True. they "could" reach their goal, get the money and still not produce anything, but I doubt it.  He already has shown clips and interviews.
My personal opinion, if he gets the money, it will be a fairly well done documentary.
If he doesn't, he will put together what he can and it just won't be at the same level....
He "started" announcing this before he put it on kickstarter, so I think it is going to happen either way, it's just a matter of how much he gets and what that enables him to do with the film.

Can the producer list screen credits or samples of his work? how about a resume? a track record of completed works would be nice.
I'm sure he can.  You can ask him.  (Probably better luck asking at his website rather than here) And if you would like to be a full "investor," I'm sure he'd love that too.. ;-)

Surely the Amiga at the very least deserves this documentary to be made to preserve it's illustrious future for the part it has played in the evolution of home computing...

That's what I was thinking..

I was watching a documentary on the Mac on Netflix a few weeks ago or so and enjoying it.
It was a good documentary, and I don't hate the Mac.  I actually liked the early Macs, just that the Amiga was better. ;-)

But as I was watching it, I kept thinking that the Amiga needs one of these.
A well-done documentary for people to watch (more than just the interesting but scattered you-tube and other VIDs spread around)....

I'm pulling for them...
