"No joy" is not an adequate error description.

I totally agree there.. More description of the problem in WinUAE will be required..

Preparing a new Amiga HDD with WinUAE is rather easy.
Well, considering the number of people who have question about this, that might be a bit off..  It's not that difficult generally..
It does involve  (or it did when I did it) launching WinUAE with the -disableharddrivesafetycheck option.

Then there's making sure that you have the correct controller type when you launch HDToolbox... (Matches the type of drive that was added when you added it to WinUAE)

Then there's still the possibility that the CF Card might not be compatible, as some aren't...

It's one of those configs that sounds more complicated than it is, but I wouldn't call it easy...

What I would recommend would be use use a ClassicWB install onto a hardfile first.
Get that setup and working.
Then add your CF card in WinUAE, format it (4G, at least 2 partitions), and copy your ClassicWB files (all of it) to the newly formatted CF drive..
http://classicwb.abime.net/
They have several different ones, and I haven't done one for the A600 (I have an A1200), but the GAAE version might work for 2.0?????

Also, you'll probably need to set your maxtransfer value in HDToolbox to 0x1fe00 for the CF card partitions.  At least I think that's it..  Not at my Amiga now..

Classicwb seems difficult to use
Really??  How so?

The error sounds like you are actually trying to install WB to your WB floppy, not your hard drive, but I'm not familiar with WB 2...

OH, wait...
Are you doing WB 3??
Do you have a 3.x Kickstart??
I see you mention 2. and 3. in your posts...

Yes.. In your A600..
Do you have Kickstart 2 or kickstart 3?

If you're using the wrong Workbench for your Kickstart, that will be a problem later at least..

Those should work for installing WB 3 on Amiga Forever..
As I said, it sounds like your actually installing it to the floppy rather than the HD, which sound like it didn't see the HD partitions (or the HD) properly..

I'm not at my Amigas, so that's about all I can do from memory..

The next step is running games from the GAMES HDD.

How do I install/play WHD Games & how do I play ADF's?

ADFs are disk images.  To play them on a real Amiga, you need to write them back to a floppy on an Amiga..  Using transadf or some similar tool..

For WHDLoad, the easiest way is to install whdload first (obviously) and then find the premade whload games.  Transfer them over to the Amiga HD and extract them...
Then, all you do is click on the icon and the game starts...
