Let me clarify my smiley.  It was late, and as a card carrying "grumpy old fart," I needed my sleep...  ;-)

I wasn't commenting at the punctuation mistake.  Those are no big deal.  They happen all the time, and I'll make several I'm sure in this post.  ;-)

It was the irony (sweet sweet chocolate covered irony....  mmmm..) of the mistakes (not just that one, although it's location to the statement was too good) in relation to the statement about being "more educated."
Now, I'm not a fan of condesension in general.
I don't think someone's level of education has any bearing on the matter.
But, you have to admit, pairing that type of statement with myriad mistakes in a post is funny...
Let me put it this way, if one of the admins of Amibay had posted that type of response, what would you have thought of it??

But I'm not pointing out anything about you, just the post..  I post stupid things frequently.  When pointed out (after a bit of a breather), I can appreciate that it happened.  Doesn't mean anything about me as a person, just that I made a dumb/funny/whatever post.

I just thought that the particular post was ironic and funny...

As for Amibay, I'm a member.  I'm also a member of lots of other sites...
I've done things that I've been talked to there for breaking the rules...
I don't agree with all of their rules; and I do think that some of their rules are too strict...

However, funny thing about that is that they are rules..  Rules which are posted and I was not only asked but implored to read before making deals there...

So when I ran afoul of the rules, my reaction wasn't to say "Bite me fascists!"  (Not saying you did that of course!)
It was to take responsibility for my own mistake in breaking the rules and to apologize.

If I went into a library and started laughing out loud and was approached by the librarian, I wouldn't be upset with that person.  I certainly wouldn't complain to other people about how crazy it is at the library because they kicked me out of the library for violating the rules..
I might suggest that the library consider loosening up their policies...
I might stop going to that library...
I might complain about the rules of the library.

But I'm not going to complain about them enforcing the rules that I was (or could/should have been) aware of, but broke anyway...

That's not "them," that's "me."

IMHO...

When I first joined amibay, I thought it was e-bay for the Amiga.  I learned very quickly that it isn't.  There I things I like about their ideology.  There are things I don't.  I've come to accept them for what they are (same with e-bay).

I think there's room for them in this community, which I disagree is dying.

Please proceed to tear apart my post with reckless abandon.

p.s.  Yes, it was pretty bad, even back on the BBS days.  I remember the fights on FIDONET about memory protection involving Matt Dillon and others...  There have always been passionate Amiga cliques...
