Hello!

With Dyndns you can just use their web interface and update your IP whenever you need to. I use their update client on my iMac and it does it for me. It doesn't matter what machine it runs on inside your lan.

To test your BBS internally just telnet in to the LAN IP instead of the Dyndns IP from another system. This needs to work (obviously) before messing with the NAT.

Yes the port forwarding is done on your router, just forward telnet to the IP of your Amiga and you should be good.

not in dns

When troubleshooting your router, let's just keep DYNDNS out of the picture for now. Work on DYNDNS after you have it all set up.

With that said, you should be able to get your public IP address from the router itself or from a page like Whatsmyip.org

How did trying to connect to the BBS from your LAN go with the internal address go?

Test Flow Chart...

  • Can you connect to your BBS from another system on the LAN using the IP Address of the Amiga?
  • Can you connect to your BBS from the internet using your public IP?
  • After setting up DYNDNS.ORG, does pinging your new domain return the public IP of your router?
Good luck!

I can give you a copy of my versions of any files you need although they may be different as I am using Ami-Express and not C-net. Let me know.

Actung:

You might want to consider a package like ClassicWB as trying to get anywhere from stock workbench disks is a real pain. If you can get that running, I can help you with your Ami-TCP / Miami setup or whatever.

What network card are you using?
