In 92/93 I did get a video of Amiga CDTV form a place in TX.
I wish I could find it.
It may be ruined by now.

How could they promote the CDTV?

Hell Labs, do you have to be so ignorant in every post you make on this forum? The CDTV had some very well made and informative video ads made for it that explain the many uses it had as a multimedia entertainment system with the ability to easily turn it into a fully functioning home computer. Just have a look on YouTube maybe before coming back with comments you know are going to piss off most of the people on this forum (like nearly everything you have ever posted on Amiga.org).

It did nothing a 500 and cdrom addon couldn't do. Please don't defend that junk. I've yet to see anyone on a music forum go "kurt blowing his brains out was the right thing to do, it improved his popularity with goths 300% and gave his girlfriend further oppertunites to get in gossip magazines!"

The CDTV obviously wasn't a huge success, but it was a forerunner in CD based home entertainment and was deliberately marketed to non-computer users as a home entertainment device.  The technology was new, and the market didn't really exist yet.

It's not like much was missing. Maybe FMV? Good riddence, I've played half melted vhs tapes with better quality. and those FMV only games SUCK.

Those aren't really the same at all. You can't really compare wierd ass faux-vcrs with **** like "plumbers don't wait ties" that they called "interactive movies" with either a games console or a whatever the hell the appletv is supposed to do. It plays itunes stuff, right?

The "weird-ass faux VCR" could play both video and  games, so it can be compared to both DVD players and games consoles.

I can't really say people would want to watch a film in OCS graphics, thats what, 32 colour video? And no record function. I don't really understand why people who didn't use computers would have wanted one, over say a vcr and a nintendo or something.

Tell me, out of the box, what is the CDTV actually useful for? Not watching videos, because the video quality is terrible, not playing amiga games, because there is no floppy drive, and not playing those FMVB games from the early 90s because none of them are even remotley fun or interesting.

The only good thing about the CDTV was when the stores were getting rid of them cheap, and you could assemble, with a bunch of addons, a Cool black computer with a CDROM drive. And even then a 500+cdrom was probably cheaper, and far more portable. I'd go as far as to say you'd be better of buying a used 1000 and a can of spray paint.

You can't even properly argue against my point other than "you're wrong, because i'm not telling you why you're wrong." You've lost. The CDTV is a peice of ****. Give up already.
