I don't think that Bill meant that AmigaOS will be x86-only, rather that in a year (and I think one should take that timeframe with large amounts of salt), AmigaOS will be DE-based and so will *also* run on x86. From what I can tell the "I want AmigaOS on x86" crowd couldn't care less either way about PPC, they just want it on x86. Since x86 is so prevalent, it makes a lot of sense that AmigaOS-DE will run on that. I've read Bill's comments a few times, and I can't see how it could be interpreted as "it will *only* run on x86".
