Amiga 1200 rebuild...
« on: December 07, 2013, 03:36:40 AM »
Duce here was nice enough to send me a bunch of amiga 1200 parts...

Essentially a whole 1200 minus the shell. (motherboard, floppy, keyboard, hard drive)

I did think I would just build a tower, but seeing as how this is essentially complete (even with the static guard and so on...

Does anyone have an amiga 1200 plastic shell for sale or trade? I figure someone here had to have put your 1200 in a tower and no longer need the wedge shell...

I found some on ebay, but all from england with very expensive shipping, so I'm hoping to find a shell in the USA...

I will also need that little cable that goes to the second joystick port as shown in this pic (this pic taken from a teardown guide...)
See that little cable that goes from the motherboard to the joystick port? yeah  that piece...

Anyone?

Thanks again Duce, I'm going to bring her back to glorious life!

I found the cable for the joystick/mouse port on amigakit.com so thats great...

wedge cases, still looking... Looks dismal on ebay, all only available from the UK for 30$ shipping...

And such bright white cases are available :

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Commodore-Amiga-1200-case-top-and-bottom-in-good-white-condition-/400618910490?pt=UK_VintageComputing_RL&hash=item5d46bf731a

This is good white condition? ARGH!

Yes looks like that may be my only option...

Anyone have any of this stuff for sale or trade before I go the ebay route ?

Amiga 1200 shell/plastic wedge case
pcmcia network card for a1200
external scandoubler for amiga rgb to vga

Going back down the rabbit hole again. Next stop amiga wonderland!

Yeah he does have a lot of auctions for them, so maybe he just didn't change the text, lots of copy and paste to expedite posting his items I suppose...

Whatever the cause its funny to see a listing like that...

Still no luck finding a shell in the USA, so I may have to order one of these from england, pay 30 dollars in shipping and then wait 6 weeks for shipping... (SIGH)
Maybe I will just put it in a tower or old pc desktop case after all...

Also I realized tonight that I also need :

A floppy power cable...

ANYONE?

I recall that an a500 case can house an a1200 motherboard with some mods, so if someone has one of those I may also be interested...?

Sorry Doc, but if I'm going to pay that much I don't want a big crack or hole in the back of the case, good luck with your sale though... Hope you find a local buyer if not for shipping its worth the price your asking.
