Joystick remapping in winuae?
« on: October 16, 2011, 02:32:16 AM »
I got an nes controller thats usb.

It maps its two red buttons strangely as buttons 2 and 3.

select and start are mapped as 9 and 10.

I try this joystick in WINUAE and the directions on the joystick work fine but the buttons don't work. I tried every configuration in input but the best I think I did was get one button working then made more changes trying to get second button to work now neither works.

Does anyone know the easiest way to get this working in WINUAE?

I had a competition pro USB joystick before. This worked right out of the box but I absolutely hated that joystick, its so stiff it actually hurts to use it after awhile.

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated. OR if you know of another usb joystick which works out of the box in winuae great, I'd be happy to buy one!

Someone suggest a game for me that for sure uses two buttons?

I was testing in brutal paws of fury. I thought that used both buttons but seems no matter what I try only one button works. Maybe I'm wrong and it only uses one button.

Now I'm going through games trying to find one that for sure uses both buttons so i can be sure this remapping worked.

Any ideas for games that for sure use two buttons, please someone let me know so I can be sure I'm sane. I don't think the second button is working right now though...

Thanks,

Steven

Thanks, at least I know how to test, testing with mortal combat. I think I got it working now.... I think the problem was WINUAE counting buttons starting at zero, where my joystick counting buttons starting at button 1.

Got it working so happy no more stiff ass USB competition pro. Its funny how nice an old nes style controller feels.

Now I guess, I've got to go install a nintendo emulator I guess and find some roms. Oh boy mario brothers! hahaha.

works nice for winuae.

Now I'm wondering if I should get another one for two player action!
