Commodore USA - more delays? You're kidding?
« on: April 21, 2011, 02:36:46 PM »
At the risk of starting another shitstorm...

Now the website says late may early june delivery for the 3 products they are apparently taking pre-orders for.

http://www.commodoreusa.net/CUSA_Store.aspx

Another delay. Said mid april before. I can't wait to see the 30 million dollar ad campaign on airing on "major networks". Was supposed to air last christmas, but then these computers were supposed to start selling a year ago, or well, that was other computers then.

I'm going to go buy a tron dvd. I was buying one soon anyway, I'm curious to see if the compusa ad is in all dvds or if they just paid to have their warez peddled in a very small number of dvds.

Maybe someone from there will clarify, were the ads in every tron legacy dvd, or just some of them?

No one from CUSA clarified yet if they have permission to use the tron legacy footage in their ad, or just used it without permission yet.

I think Franko reported them to disney. Thats funny.

Its like having a t-shirt printing business with only one heat press. Sure, you can make thousands of shirts, but its going to take forever.

yes that means you bought a spot to have your printed ad included in a dvd case. It dosn't mean they gave you permission to use their movie footage in an ad for your computer, or on your website.

And NO the ad has not been seen anwhere but their own website yet.

That was worth a read, especially this :

"Motorola believes the C64x mold is progressing well and getting completed in a week or two."

"I think it will be a moving experience to see the C64 coming down the conveyor belt like in the old days. "

1) Now they are saying motorola is making the cases?

2) Do they even HAVE an assembly line?

Leo is funny. I wonder if the stickers fell off his commodore pc yet.

I suppose I just don't understand hyping a product for a year and THEN figuring out how to make them, or how the parts will be manufactured.

Seems like the chicken before the egg dosn't it?

Wait we're taking pre-orders and we don't even have the parts here yet?

I think thats a large part of why people keep knocking them.

Once, they said all their computers would come with aros pre-installed.

Next, they trash AROS as not commercially viable.

Next they announce "commodore os" which will be ubuntu with a commodore wallpaper, but hey it takes a long time to come up with a nice commodore wallpaper, so it won't be included with our computers just yet.

There is also all the computers they announced then never delivered on.
I've counted about 6 so far that dissapeared with no further explanation after all that hype. Plus all the fake prototype pictures and so on.

They really do need to get their story straight.

If you don't want to get trashed, don't make it so easy for people to do
so. Alot of the resentment against them they generated by these things.

There is also the fact that they are doing the least work possible while expecting the most attention. Anyone can slap a sticker on an existing product, and I'd venture to say anyone with decent computer hobby skills can make their own pc in a c64 case for 1/2 the price they ask.

I think AROS/MorpOS and yes even os4 is worthy of alot more attention.

Imagine the work hours that have gone in to each project.

Also Netami, minimig and others, have all done 25X the work into their respective projects. None of these people are claiming to be the saviors of the sacred name. :)

Wow thats funny!

Complaint type
Total Closed Complaints
Advertising / Sales Issues 6
Delivery Issues 2
Problems with Product / Service 4
Total Closed Complaints 12

Takes an awful lot to make most people complain to the better business beureau too. I wonder how many other people got ripped off and didn't bother to complain. An F rating with the bbb is really bad for business.

Maybe he can't keep hocking furniture, so he decided to do CUSA instead.
