Enh, if you want the real answer to the transgender elements in recent male fashion...

Chicks dig it.

In a nutshell.

The emofashioncore kids wear girl-jeans now... And those man handbags. I can't wait until that whole things blows over and I can talk to people who actually care about music again.

There's a hillarious video about these kids online, it's a 15MB download though.

I did not understand one bit of it...

I suppose it is quite idiomatic. But it's basically a comic exaggeration of the kind of fashion/image obsessed kids that have latched onto the punk, hardcore-punk and (primarily) emo scenes recently.

..emo...
The what???

Beats me...

Emo, pre-2001: More cerebral sub-genre of punk/indie-rock. The lyrics are non-political, instead being rather obsessive (names, dates, times and places are often noted) musings on love, hope, desperation, etc. The musical style varies from full-tilt hardcore to acoustic stuff, but is generally melancholic (although not always melodic) and rhythmically off-kilter.

Emo, post-2001: A haircut.
