Crossover network cable?
« on: November 12, 2009, 12:44:40 PM »
Hi, I bought a crossover network cable from amigakit, and now I need some setup help =) I need to get "ethernet" between my A1200 and my laptop.
When I connect the cable from Amigas PCMCIA 3com card to my laptop's ethernet port, nothing happens. I used to have a router, and my XP told me the IP, subnet mask and gateway. But now, I cant configure AmiTcp because don't know the laptop IP etc...where do I get them?
And do I have to configure DNS server to Ibrowse(where?), because the real broblem was that I couldnt get to the internet using the router? And im using a 3G modem on my USB to get internet connection to my laptop.

Thanks in advance !
A1200, Blizzard 1260 + 64mb, Indivision AGA, Subway USB, 8GB CF-HD, PCMCIA network card, OS 3.9.
And a couple of A600\'s :).

1) Share your wireless connection in XP.

2) Set the IP address of the Amiga as 192.168.0.2
The ethernet port you are using to connect to the Amiga will automatically become 192.168.0.1 (It`s the M$ way, you cant change it if using ICS)

3) Set your gateway and DNS (on the Amiga) as 192.168.0.1

Job done!

(PS network mask is always 255.255.255.0 in this IP range)

Thanks you so much ! I finally got everything working thanks to you!
The only thing I did, I changed the TCP/IP settings in my XP and reconfigured AmiTcp :)
