I don't know why AOS4 wouldn't support HTML5.
The reason

Oh and you gotta love the ending comment:

Since most people seem to think the AmigaOS 4.x port of OWB it's useless crap I guess I wont waste my time on it any more.
Maybe you'll find someone else who is stupid enough to port the AROS version (required if you want to have support for tabs) or the MorphOS version of OWB to AmigaOS 4.1, but I very much doubt it.
Sure enough he did quit working on it sometime after this.

MorphOS OWB source code is available here: http://fabportnawak.free.fr/owb/src/

Oh that IS painfully humorous. Where did you find that incredibly stupid comment, Piru?

It's in the post I linked.

Without any better implementations of flash than we have, and a more complex port, I think they're being slightly over-optomistic.

Indeed. Some seem to forget that port of Firefox doesn't give you flash. Also, personally I think that it is immensely stupid to not improve any other browser just because some FF port is said to be coming.

I'd advice against putting all eggs in the same basket.

So that's a NO then?

Well, not anytime soon unless if someone is "stupid enough" to port the MorphOS OWB. Of course HTML5 is also possible via some other routes, but none of them is as straight forward.

You shouldn´t equate HTML5 to the Video-tag. OWB 3.30 supports many HTML5 features.
Right. So which other HTML5 features help replace flash video playback?

Well Flash will die a death soon (thanks Apple) so I shouldn't be worried about missing out.

That's a bit too optimistic I'm afraid. Flash will be there for years to come.

There was an interesting spat between afxgroup and joerg. Apparently afxgroup wanted to create a flash plugin for OS4 OWB but joerg would not enable the NPAPI. The exchange was quite heated. As far as I understand it is not possible to complete the gnash bounty without a working plugin.

Anyone followed this further? What was the final outcome?
