I create email redirect for each service I subscribe to. If I get any spam to that address I just remove the redirect. If I need to use it again (for instance to recover the password) I just reinstate the forward.

"they" already have your information. Staying off of Facebook isn't keeping anyone from getting marketing data off of you, it is just an alternative way of getting it.

Actually, in my case I'm keeping my digital fingerprint as small as possible. Joining Facebook wouldn't help that.

Small trade off for the ability to keep track of all my ex-girlfriends as they get fatter and fatter each year on Facebook.

I get my social pr0n fix from elsewhere.
