At the same time some other people, who somewhere along the line started producing a clever PPC based gadget and also produced an OS called Morphos (or something). They said that they owned the IP and it all got hopelessly complicated.
Well, as being one of those guys still working on this MorphOS, I'd just like to comment that we (the MorphOS coders) have never claimed any ownership of the AmigaOS IP.
The only comments we've made has been dubunking the claims (by the Hyperion et all) that we would have somehow used the AmigaOS IP in MorphOS. This has never been the case.
There have been some
calls for legal action, but curiously no lawsuit has ever been produced against MorphOS. Also see

I hope this clears this particular point.
